A young African American Marine returns home from Vietnam in 1969 after fighting for his life and the life of his fellow Marines for 14 months. While waiting for his sister to pick him up in the first bar, he can find he can’t rid himself of the smell of the jungle and the memories of what he had to endure in Southeast Asia. Having to instantly assimilate into an evolving America, he has acquired new skills that saved his life during war but might take his life during peace.
